This course was written and developed by Scotch whisky experts with decades of experience in the industry.
Candidates will explore the history and business of Scotch whisky and its legal requirements, before learning the production process from raw materials to bottling. Tutored tasting sessions will teach candidates how to run a sensory analysis of Scotch whisky, linking aromas and structure to production and maturation processes.
Successful candidates will receive a digital Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Accredited certificate of completion and lapel pin.
Hybrid Course: 2 sessions
An introductory 2.5-hour online Zoom session to develop historical and theoretical knowledge.
An immersive 6.5 hour classroom experience (at Common House in Richmond, VA) where we will use sensory analysis of tasting samples and raw materials to explore production and maturation methods.
50 question multiple-choice exam administered during the final hour of the in-person session.
