The Certificate in Irish Whiskey aims to give candidates in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the different styles of Irish whiskey. Candidates will explore the history and business of Irish whiskey, before learning the whole of the production and maturation processes, including the different equipment used depending on the different mash bills adopted. Candidates will also learn about legal requirements and how to run a sensory analysis of Irish whiskey via tutored tasting.
Hybrid Course: 2 sessions
An introductory 2-hour online Zoom session to develop historical and theoretical knowledge.
An immersive 6.5 hour classroom experience (at Common House in Richmond, VA) where we will use sensory analysis of tasting samples and raw materials to explore production and maturation methods.
50 question multiple-choice exam administered during the final hour of the in-person session.
Successful candidates will receive a digital Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Accredited certificate of completion and lapel pin.

Exam scheduled for the final hour of the in-person class session
50-question multiple choice paper. Passing score: 70%
