WSET Level 1 Award in Wines - In Person
A beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine. For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings.

In person course. Online, remotely invigilated exam.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for WSET Level 1 Wines.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to participate.
Course Structure
Single day courses: 12 - 5pm, including a 30 minute lunch break. Take-home mock exam, and access to the instructor for pre-exam Q & A.
Two-day courses: 2 - 5pm for two consecutive Sundays, including an in-class review session, and take-home mock exam.
Online, remotely invigilated exam scheduled one week after course completion.

The principles of food and wine pairing
How to describe wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
Exam Details
Online Remotely Invigilated (RI) closed book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must meet the requirements outlined in WSET’s RI Exam Essential Guidance.
Candidates who are unable to meet the RI Exam requirements must inform us BEFORE registration, and arrange to take a paper exam in-person at the conclusion of the second class session.
Candidates who fail a qualification will be allowed to resit the exam until successful. The fee for each resit attempt is $100 for Level 1 qualifications, and $130 for Level 2 qualifications.
Students with disabilities or documented special educational needs may apply for reasonable adjustments for either RI or paper exams. Applications must be conferred to WSET at least 4 weeks before the exam date.
